‘Windrush’ anniversary Eucharist at Lichfield Cathedral

At 11.00am on Sunday 24 June 2018, a ‘Windrush’ Celebration Eucharist will take place at Lichfield Cathedral. This will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the arrival at Tilbury Docks on 22 June 1948 of the ‘Windrush’ carrying passengers from the Caribbean. They were invited by Britain to assist with post-war reconstruction and have since that time helped to shape British social, cultural and political life. The Revd Preb Carl Ramsay will preside and the preacher will be Revd Karen Reeves.

NHS 70th anniversary at Lichfield Cathedral

At 5.30pm on Thursday 5 July 2018, a Choral Evensong at Lichfield Cathedral will offer thanksgiving for the National Health Service, which was launched on 5 July 1948. The service will include an address by Professor Sir Albert Aynsley Green, advocate of child welfare and health. He was the Professor of Child Health and subsequently the Head of the School of Clinical Medical Sciences in the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, held the Nuffield Chair of Child Health at the Institute of Child Health, University College London, and was appointed the first National Clinical Director for Children. Sir Albert is now an independent consultant on children, childhood and child health.

‘Soul Survivor’ at Stafford Showground

Soul Survivor logoThe children’s/youth ministry ‘Soul Survivor‘ returns to Staffordshire County Showground from Saturday 4 to Wednesday 8 August 2018 inclusive. Every morning and evening the whole camp gathers together for times of worship, teaching and ministry. The main meetings are supplemented by seminars, sports, films, cafes and late-night worship. Stafford is one of several venues for ‘Soul Survivor’ – similar events being held in Kinross and Peterborough. The summer camps in August 2019 will be the last ‘Soul Survivor’ camps to be held. More information and bookings via this link.
